Collie Health Foundation Dermatomyositis Grants

The Foundation has funded a total of $143,125 toward Dermatomyositis research through 2006.
Each year the Collie Health Foundation sends a grant solicitation to each of the accredited Veterinary Colleges in the United States. We ask for proposals for research projects to fund that are Collie related. In addition, we work very closely with the AKC Canine Health Foundation funding grants that are researching health problems that can affect Collies.

With AKCCHF, Grant #792: Dermatomyositis in the Collie Dr. Leigh Anne Clark, Texas A & M University. Propose to collect DNA from affected Collies and family members for use in linkage studies. Our goal is to identify a marker, or markers, that can be used by breeders to identify dogs that are predisposed to develop DM. We also aim to identify the gene(s) that may be causative for DM.
Our contribution: $45,000 from AKC CHF donor advised fund.
