UC Davis VGL Individual Tests

All tests available in the UC Davis VGL Collie Health Panel are available for purchase from VGL as individual tests with a $25.00 CHF subsidy for CHF members testing their purebred Collies. This is especially important for those needing the full DMS test for CHIC/OFA Certification (since the Wisdom panel does not include the DMS test with the needed C loci) and/or the CEA test for the Coloboma study. The VGL also offers tests on coat length, color patterns, etc.

Testing Costs and Member Subsidies

  • Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Multidrug Sensitivity (MDR1), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM), Cyclic Neutropenia (Grey Collie Syndrome):
The full cost each individual test is $55, minus a $25 subsidy, bringing the cost for members down to $30 per individual test.
  • Rod-Cone Dysplasia Type 2 (rcd2-PRA, or RCD2), Dermatomyositis (DMS):
The full cost for each individual test is $75, minus a $25 subsidy, bringing the cost for members down to $50 per individual test.

If you are planning to run 2 or more tests on one dog, it is more cost-effective to run the Collie Health Panel.

SUBSIDIES ARE FOR PUREBRED ROUGH AND SMOOTH COLLIES OWNED BY CHF MEMBERS ONLY
